AnimuS AnimaA

Exhibition project
by Paula Kajzar

On the stage of our lives, an invisible drama unfolds, which binds us together, a drama of endless plots created by our moods and feelings. We are involved in our real-life relationships, but besides those actors, everyone hides inside one’s psyche Animus or Anima, two elements of the unconscious in constant motion. Continuous seeking, desiring, finding each other, breaking up, disbanding, an endlessly involving wheel of Ying and Yang. The frenetic research, of peace and balance between solitude and love, even within ourselves that we all pursue, gives rise to this project. Using the technique of creative movement Paula Kajzar wants to involve the viewer in this cathartic journey although leaving him freedom for emotional interpretations. The theatrical environment where these photographs were spontaneously captured formed the ideal setting to fulfill the metaphor.
The title and inspiration for this project come from G.J. Jung’s archetypes theory ( ” The Invisible Partners” book) where he explores the concept of animus as the unconscious masculine element of a woman, and the anima as the unconscious feminine side of a man, although each one is transcending the personal psyche. Only the perfect integration of both forces, embracing and raising the two energies to the highest levels, will bring the individual to the harmony of his being.
For many years working as a stage photographer, Paula Kajzar in love with movement traced invisible actions did create her abstract composition having in mind the allegorical meanings of those images. She chose to use mainly primary colors for this series being aware of their therapeutic properties.
